The South Eastern Diocese of the KawaZulu Natal region of South Africa is the companion Synod of our Southwestern Synod of Minnesota.  There have been five exchange visits in the years of our association.  Providence Valley is in the process of developing a relationship with the ELCSA Nikonjeni parish in this area.  This relationship will involve communication in regard to the types of ministry we do and mutual prayer support for one another.  The Lac Qui Parle conference has had sustained relationships with South African churches for a number of years, providing support for children to attend school and other projects.  Besides providing a combined total of $20,000 form all conferences in educational scholarships, the Southwest Synod sponsors an HIV/AIDS ministry coordinator and helps in agricultural development.
